Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions for us? We've got answers!

Where does your tea come from?

Our tea is sourced from high quality growers and distributors who tend to the entire process of tea cultivation with intention and care. This generally means that our tea leaves are harvested from wild trees or seed-grown in their native environments, free of any chemical fertilizers, pesticides or weed-killers.

Examples of brands we buy from include Wild Tea Qi, Global Tea Hut, Yunnan Sourcing, and Living Tea.

Generally our teas come from artisanal farms in China, Japan, and Taiwan. On our Global Infusions nights, we also serve special teas that are unique to the region of that night’s theme.

Where does your water come from?

We’re glad you asked! The water you drink at Oxytocin is all sourced from the natural spring at Ward, Colorado.

In the world of tea, the highest-quality water is that which comes from a natural and moving (not still) source. Fresh spring water is traditionally thought of as tea’s favorite kind to be prepared in. We hope you taste the difference. 🙂

Does your tea have caffeine?

We typically serve a variety of teas, including traditional puerh, white, green, red, oolong, and non-caffeinated herbal teas. There’s something for everyone.

Rest assured, you will not be kept up at night from the tea you drink at our evening events.

Do you serve food?

Our long-term vision is to have a full food-and-beverage cafe at Oxytocin. For now, we only serve drinks and a small plate of fruit. We kindly ask that you do not bring any outside foods to our events that could cause a mess.

Can I bring kids?

Yes please! We welcome humans of all ages. We try our best to make Oxytocin a family-friendly environment.

Can I bring pets?

In our current venue, pets are not allowed. Please bring them some leftover tea to share when you get home.

Can I bring my work laptop?

Short answer, yes. Barring our tea ceremonies and curated meditative events, most Oxytocin events (such as Together with Tea and Global Infusions) offer a dynamic atmosphere for you to work, play, dance, and connect. We ask you don't take calls, but you are most welcome to work your magic in our space.

What is your venue?

We are hosting the majority of Oxytocin’s pop-up events at Nevei Kodesh, a lovely synagogue in the lineage of Renewal Judaism (more info available on their website).

There is no expectation for you to interact with the space in a Jewish way, nor are these events Jewish themed. Nevei Kodesh is home to many beautiful offerings in the Boulder community, including ecstatic dance and other spunky local  gatherings.

Is there parking?

Abundant parking. Nevei Kodesh has a private parking lot (off of Grape Ave) as well as free street parking surrounding the synagogue.

Other questions?

Other things:

Phones are allowed (although not necessarily encouraged), but please do not play videos, take calls, or generally be a loud technology person in the space. Tea ain't about that.

Did you lose something or have something stolen at an event? Our heart goes out to you. We loved your keychain too. But unfortunately this is a moment where you’ll have to practice radical accountability… AKA we are not responsible!

Teaware is fragile. As the old adage goes… you break it, you buy it. This applies to both Oxytocin supplies, furniture and materials as well as the furniture, decor and fixtures in our gracious hosting venue, Nevei Kodesh.
